Emily Blunt and John Krasinski found true love … in the kitchen!
In an interview with iHeartMedia’s Podcast River Cafe Table 4 which premiered this week, Blunt jokingly claimed that Krasinski only asked for it after she prepared a recipe for a roasted chicken by Food Network star Ina Garten, often referred to as “engagement chicken. ”
“I just did something I knew he was going to like,” she recalled. “I mean, roast chicken – who doesn’t love roast chicken? The roast chicken I love is Ina Garten’s roast chicken, it’s called her ‘engagement chicken’. When people do it for people, they get engaged or something. “
And after serving the dish to Krasinski in all its “onion, garlic” glory, Blunt said she was convinced she had won his heart.
“That’s it,” she joked. “Everything was needed!”

Although the ‘Quiet Place’ star did not say exactly when that dinner was, she and Krasinski married in 2010. The couple shared daughters Hazel, 7, and Violet, 5.
The dish got its name from Garten from the editor of Glamor magazine who claimed to have done it for her boyfriend and was engaged within 24 hours.
At least 70 other couples reported the same results, which is inspiring the title of the cookbook, “100 Recipes Every Woman Should Know: Engagement Chicken and 99 Other Wonderful Dishes to Get Everything You Want in Life,” published in 2011 by Glamor.
In the 2018 episode “Sunday today with Willie Geist, ”Garten – better known as the“ Barefoot Countess ”- even claimed that Meghan Markle made a recipe for Prince Harry just before the engagement.
“Without me, this would never have happened,” she joked at the time.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never commented on what recipe they are preparing, but they are I say in an interview soon after the engagement that Prince Harry had betrothed while they were cooking a roast chicken at home one night.
