Matthew Perry is ready to say it all.
The book is the result of a reported seven-digit contract with Flatiron Books, a Macmillan division that has acquired worldwide rights.
“In the book, Perry takes readers behind the scenes and to the sound stage of the most successful sitcom of all time, while revealing his private struggles with addiction,” the publisher told Fox News in a statement sent Friday.
“Honest, confident, and told with his trademark humor, Perry vividly describes his lifelong struggle with the disease and what motivated it, even though he seemingly had it all,” the statement continued. “Perry’s memories, the first of the cast of ‘Friends’, are unwaveringly sincere, shy and funny: this is a book that ‘Friends’ fans have been waiting for, but it will also shed a strong light for all who are in their own battle for himself or for a loved one. “
“We need humor, we need catharsis, and we need to agree on something – and that’s Matthew’s remarkable story, told by his inimitable voice,” said Megan Lynch, who will edit the manuscript. “Matthew’s book has unparalleled potential for bringing people together, which seems especially encouraging right now, in a time of isolation and division.”
