“Let’s go, Brandon” was used by conservatives to secretly attack the president.
Saturday’s Southwest Airlines flight became political when one of the pilots finished posting to passengers with “Let’s go, Brandon,” an insult to insulting President Joe Biden.
“On Friday morning on the Southwest flight from Houston to Albuquerque, the pilot signed his salute through a public information system with the phrase that some passengers heard out of breath,” wrote Colleen Long of the AP. Article posted on Saturday.
Long was a passenger on the flight on vacation, she explained in a thread on Twitter, and was nearly removed from the plane after the pilot unsuccessfully tried to get her to comment on her story on the subject.
“Also in defense of the airline [sic] I asked them to open the locked cave [sic] and it probably sounded crazy! ”she wrote below tweet.
Additional information about the specific year is not known. Asked for comment, Southwest told Long and Insider: “The Southwest team is proud to provide a pleasant, comfortable and respectful environment for the millions of customers who fly with the airline each year, and the behavior of each individual that is disruptive or offensive. they don’t excuse her. “
The term “Let’s go, Brandon” was a a bitch’s right to a secret bragging of the president. Its origins can be traced to the NASCAR event, during which NBC Sports journalist Kelly Stavast mistakenly recognized the crowd’s chant as saying “Let’s go, Brandon” while they were actually saying “Fuck Joe Biden”.
In Arizona, a Navy veteran, honored by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, wore a shirt with the words “Let’s go, Brandon” at his ceremony and was interviewed by local news. Conservative commentators also resorted to naming the president with the nickname “Brandon” instead of his real name.
Southwest did not cancel any flights between Houston and Albuquerque on Friday, indicating that Long’s flight went according to plan despite the incident.
The Southwest was inadvertently embroiled in a cultural war at the center of the “Let’s Go, Brandon” debate, dating back to Columbus Day weekend, when thousands of flights were canceled due to extreme weather conditions and air traffic control problems. Prominent conservatives claimed the pilots were resisting President Joe Biden’s mandate to vaccinate which affected Southwest, in the role of federal contractor.
Conservatives from Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Ben Shapiro of the Daily Wire they repeated the speech point. But the airline and its pilots ’union said so protests against vaccines played no role in the cancellations.
That’s what CEO Gary Kelly said the airline will not lay off unvaccinated workers which are not in accordance with the mandate or put them on unpaid leave. Southwest set a deadline of November 24 to submit proof of vaccination or a request for exemption to meet the December 8 deadline set by the Biden administration for federal government contractors.
