NBC presenter Chuck Todd unveiled a new poll on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” which found that 71 percent of Americans believe America is on the wrong track.
Todd said: “This morning we have a brand new NBC news poll that still contains some horrifying news for Democrats. The general message is that Americans have lost confidence in President Joe Biden and their optimism for the country. At least they have at the moment. Only 22% of adults say we are going in the right direction. A shocking 71% of them say we are on the wrong track, and that includes almost the majority of Democrats who claim it.
He continued: “President Biden’s approval is just under 42% compared to 54% who disapprove. Believe it or not, just two months ago, Mr Biden was in positive territory, 49 of them approving. So what breaks the president’s numbers? Look at this set of numbers, only 37% say they have the ability to handle a crisis compared to the majority who say no. Thirty-seven percent of them also say he is competent and effective as president. 50% disagree with this description. What’s more, Republicans have, believe it or not, a double-digit advantage when it comes to border security, inflation, crime, national security, the economy, and, shockingly, in doing things. Democrats generally have a smaller double-digit advantage in tackling climate change, coronavirus, education and abortion. That’s really it now. “
