WASHINGTON (AP) – A Russian analyst who helped provide information for a dossier of research used during the Trump-Russia investigation has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by a special prosecutor, a person familiar with the case said on Thursday.
Igor Danchenko’s arrest took place on Thursday and is part of Special Prosecutor John Durham’s investigation into the origin of the Russian investigation, said a person familiar with the case who was not authorized to discuss it by name and spoke on condition of anonymity.
It was not immediately clear what charges Danchenko could be charged with.
The arrest was first reported by the New York Times. A Justice Ministry spokesman did not immediately return a phone message asking for comment, and Danchenko’s lawyer did not have an immediate comment.
