The stars of TikTok, The Smith Family, were the victims of arson and did NOT start burning, police say

A Tik Tok a family of millions of followers whose house was destroyed in the alleged arson was followed on social media and blamed for the fire, police said.

The Smithy family, which has about 2.6 million followers on the social media platform, saw their twin in Welling in the southeast London, which collapsed in a devastating hell earlier this year.

Since the fire, a family of five has received “unfounded allegations of responsibility” on social media, investigators said.

Met police said yesterday that the family is not suspected and the fire is being treated as arson.

When the fire broke out, the family was rushed to the aid of neighbors who helped transfer their two daughters and a six-week-old boy over the back garden fence to safety.

Despite the severity of the fire, no one was injured and they have not yet been arrested, police said.

Detectives again this week called for anyone with information on the arson to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Danny Banks of the Serious and Complicated Investigation Unit Met said: “The victims of this incident are visible on social media and have suffered a very severe ordeal, not least because they lost their home but have also suffered unfounded allegations since then. on social media to be responsible for this incident.

“I am happy to say that they do not support our investigation and that they continue to support it. It is essential that we hear from everyone who has the information.”

Fiat Punto police, who wanted to track them down as part of the investigation, are now excluded from the investigations.

It came after the Smithy family was accused of buying a jet ski after fans of their videos raised £ 50,000 to help repair a home destroyed by fire.

To help the family, the GoFundMe site has been set up, raising £ 50,000 to £ 30,000, from which it returns to various fundraisers and charities.

But social media users remained angry after Nick posted a video showing him laughing while riding a jet ski and asking, ‘What are you doing, eh?’

The clip was posted on the Smithy family’s TikTok page, where they gathered more than 3.3 million followers by uploading videos of their exploits.

He then laughs as he faces the camera and shouts, ‘Negative people only get negative things in life. Don’t be a negative person. ‘

One TikTok user commented, “He laughs at everyone who donated to him.”

Another wrote, ‘Wow, now I’m sorry I donated. Can I have my £ 50 back, please? ‘

And a third added, ‘I couldn’t afford to renovate the house, but I can buy a jet ski! I feel sorry for all the people who donated to the GoFundMe site. ‘

However, Nick and Jess said in another video released today that they transferred a large sum of money donated to other charities.

Followers were told: “As you know, £ 47,000 was raised on our behalf after the fire. We are very grateful and grateful for all of you who have donated.

‘Although we have not requested this, we are passing it on to other purposes and charities.

“We made £ 13,000 for the family in the Croydon fire, we gave each neighbor a small amount to cover their surplus and anything we won’t make up for.

‘We also made £ 6,900 for Societi MS. And you all chose and commented on the Azaylia Foundation, to which we donated this morning. ‘

The family decided to leave TikTok after the alleged arson, but have since rejoined the popular Chinese social network.
