The former Liverpool captain and English ace Gerrard is preparing for his first Premier League game as boss of Aston Villa, but has already indicated to him that he will lead his old club when his and Jurgen Klopp’s contracts expire in 2024.

Steven Gerrard has vowed to go “all in” to Aston Villa after urging fans and celebrities to ignore the noise over his Liverpool Inheritance.

Anfield legend Gerrard is back in the game Premier League after signing three and a half year terms as head of the Villa after leaving the Rangers.

The deal ties him to Villa Park until 2024, when Jurgen Klopp’s contract with his old club Liverpool expires.

Various former Reds, such as John Barnes, have suggested that Gerrard use Villa as a springboard back to Anfield.

Gerrard was supposed to take Villa to Liverpool on December 11, but he promised his full commitment to his new club.

The former 41-year-old Reds captain, who won the Champions League, said: “I don’t think I or anyone else will be able to control the noise.

“It simply came to our notice then.

“It’s an important opportunity to go to Anfield and win and try to score the most points.

“That’s the attitude and mindset we’re going to have in every game.

“I want to win every game.

“Now my priority and focus and everything I will give every day will be for Aston Villa.

“One thing I can provide to the fans and all the staff and players here is that when I commit to something, I’m all for it.”

Villa turned to Gerrard after five consecutive defeats by Dean Smith cost the job.

The billionaire club owners are despairing of success after spending more than £ 200 million net since buying the club in 2018.

While fans are eagerly waiting for their team to lift a big silver medal for the first time since 1996.

Gerrard, 41, said: “The level of enthusiasm is really high.

“My stomach was turning and doing somersaults.

“I am very hungry and ambitious.

“The start can’t come fast enough.

“I like challenges, I like risk.

“It’s something I’m looking forward to.

“I think this club will suit me because I know the fans are very passionate and there is demand and pressure to win.

“It’s something I’ve been living with since I was 17 years old.

“For me, it’s about everyone coming together, being united, and I believe we can do exciting things together.

“I’ve learned a lot in the last three and a half years.

“I lived under that pressure and demands to win and compete every week.

“You can look at pressure in two ways: you can avoid pressure and be afraid of it.

“But you can be really excited, put your shoulders back and face it.”

Villa have retained 15 goals in their last term, but have already conceded 20 goals, 13 of them in five games.

Gerrard explained that this would be one of his first tasks to tackle Villa’s weaknesses Brighton on Saturday on a visit.

He added: “We have a six-week block where we have to focus very much on what’s in the building to try to seal our identity and philosophy and how we want to play.

“We don’t have a lot of time, so it’s very important for players to listen and be focused and accept the information.

“I want to be as fun and eye-catching as possible.
