Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck is ‘conscious in the hospital and asked for a result’ after collapsing on the pitch and receiving 10 minutes of emergency medical care during a Championship match with Reading.

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck was immediately rushed to hospital after collapsing on the pitch during his team’s championship match with Reading.
The Blades took a 1-0 lead thanks to a shot by Jayden Bogl in the 56th minute when Fleck collapsed on the pitch. His teammates immediately called for medical help.
30-year-old received 10 minutes of emergency medical care on the pitch at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night before being taken to hospital.
United coach Slaviša Jokanović said after the match: ‘He is in the hospital, he is conscious and asked for the result. Let’s hope he’s okay with us.
‘He is safe, in good hands and we pray that everything will be fine.’

Sky Sports News reported that Fleck “was able to stand with the help of an oxygen mask” and was “conscious” when he left the stadium. However, he still needed a stretcher to get out of the field safely.
Sheffield United’s official Twitter account confirmed that the midfielder was conscious when he left the stadium and wished him all the best in his recovery.
The club tweeted, “About the moments when urgent medical attention is needed for John Fleck.
The 30-year-old received 10 minutes of emergency medical care on the playground at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night before being taken to hospital.
Sheffield United informed fans on Twitter about Fleck’s condition at the hospital
“The game hasn’t started yet, but the Scottish midfielder is on his feet and receiving further medical care.
‘Fleck leaves the pitch on a stretcher after emergency medical care. Our thoughts are with you, Flecky! ‘
A South Yorkshire police statement added: “After what we have been told, John Fleck is alert and communicating with rescue staff after the horrific incident. I am holding my fists for a full recovery.”
Fleck received standing ovations from the crowd and applause as he was dragged off the field and taken to a nearby hospital.
They confirmed that the midfielder was conscious when he left the stadium and wished him all the best in his recovery.

The game resumed soon after Fleck’s departure – Conor Hourihane replaced the midfielder. Thirteen minutes of the referee’s break were also added to the game.
Sheffield United managed to keep the 1-0 victory and passed on news about Fleck to their fans after the match.
