It’s a disgusting moment when a McDonald’s worker turns on a light and reveals a crowd of worms in a soft drink vending machine at a fast food chain restaurant on Old Kent Road in south London.
The video was shot at a branch on Old Kent Road, south-east London, and posted on TikTok
In the video, the person filming is said to be a whistleblower working for a fast food chain, lighting the drain of a vending machine for soft drinks.
It shows earthworms stuck at the top of the drain, below the signs for Coca-Cola, Fanto and Oasis.
The video is accompanied by the caption: ‘This is McDonald’s Old Kent Road in south London’.
The worker initially claimed the creatures were worms, but McDonald’s said they were earthworms.
McDonald’s said the beverage station in the Old Kent Road chain (pictured) was “immediately closed” when the problem was identified and a “deep cleanup” was carried out.
A McDonald’s spokesman said MyLondon: “We take cleanliness and hygiene extremely seriously.
“Unfortunately, we were informed a few weeks ago about a problem with the drain serving drinks at our Old Kent Road restaurant.
“We immediately closed the beverage station and our hygiene team identified the cause of the problem, which was rectified before a deep clean-up was carried out.
“The area was inspected by outside experts and customers were not served drinks until we were sure the problem was completely resolved.”
A spokesman also told the website that it was an “isolated incident, not an infection”.
McDonald’s was forced to apologize last week and close its restaurant in Beckton after a video was released showing worms falling from the ceiling, landing on tables and floors.
