TV actress Rubina Dilaik talks about her struggles with Covid-19 and how she tackled body embarrassment after gaining light weight.

Covid-19 was a turning point in all of our lives, including the lives of celebrities. They, too, struggled with various physical and mental struggles resulting from a viral infection. But for every small change in their lives, they are targeted and under scrutiny. Recently, Bigg Boss 14 winner and TV actress Rubina Dilaik became the center of troll attacks as she gained a few extra pounds after battling Covid-19.

Dilaik recently posted a statement on her Instagram that read, “Dear well-wishers / pseudo fans, I notice that you are bothered by my weight gain! You relentlessly send hate mail and messages, you don’t see my value if I don’t hire PR or if I don’t tip to watch… you threaten to leave the fandoms because I’m fat now. ”

HealthShots contacted Dilaik for a free chat to understand her problems with Covid-19 earlier this year, how she tackled the disgrace of the body, and how she continues to take precautions as she has been so attentive to the virus.

Brush with Covid-19

Like many others, Dilaik faced severe consequences from Covid-19. She says it has changed her life in many ways, both physically and mentally.

“I think there were physical changes due to the weight gain that has happened since I had to take steroids to treat Covid-19. I have now become more resilient mentally and despite the physical changes, I think I have the mental strength to accept this change, ”she added.

Dilaik is taking slow and steady steps to get back in shape as she believes her body “needs time”.

Build a consistent routine

Although she is not taking any “drastic steps”, Dilaik is aware of her food intake and strives for walks every day. She also practiced yoga for 15 minutes a day. This is her way of returning to a consistent exercise regimen.

“My muscle strength is gone and my joints hurt, so I have to give my body time before I start strenuous workouts,” he says.

Coping with the shame of the body

With social media bridging the gap between celebrities and the public, trolling has become quite common a form of disgrace to the body.

But Dilaik remains steadfast. “I think I accepted that I had gained a few pounds and become a few inches wide. It’s a phase in my life, and if I’m willing to accept it, there really isn’t a battle. Yes, there is a lot of public scrutiny because social media has given everyone the freedom to express their thought process. “

He adds: “People don’t think about the consequences of what can happen on the recipient’s side. It would have affected me sooner. But now I feel I have to accept the changes that followed after Covid, and that has given me more tolerance and patience, ”he says.

Dilaik has advice, especially for women. “Hug yourself because you are completely unique and I think that is the beauty of each individual. We really need to accept ourselves and show some love for ourselves, ”he says.

Life experience after Covid-19

Dilaik believes she has so much more gratitude today for the struggles she experienced in 25-27 days Covid-19 that she had. “I was nailed to the bed and I was out of breath. I used to have fever and sleepless nights. Now I am so thankful to God that I have survived. I have the courage and strength to recover from this pandemic, ”he says.

Fearing a new version of the Covid-19 Omicron in the news, Dilaik says it continues to follow all protocols. “I am still particularly in favor of not visiting public places unless necessary. I almost stopped going to restaurants, movie theaters and shopping malls. And there is nothing more important than wearing a properly cleaned mask and washing your hands, ”he advises.
