Avoid! Cowboys come to the rescue and help state troops collect cattle running down the Idaho highway

  • Two riders saved the day by safely getting the escaped cattle off the road
  • Cows from Idaho escaped from the enclosure and then evaded police for hours
  • The clip shows one rider chasing one of the fugitives along the meridian

This is the moment drivers confronted a cowboy who was helping police resist a runaway cow as she stormed down a highway in Idaho.

Amanda Chapman shot the footage as she was traveling on I-84 near Caldwell on Jan. 2 around 1:15 p.m.

Her footage shows a rider trying to hair on a cow while police officers wave their hands to run her.

But the escaped animal turns past the cops, jumps out of the center and heads down the road past Mrs. Chapman’s car.

Ms. Chapman recounts as she approaches two riders and an animal, and says, “We have some cowboys and an angry cow taking off down the highway.”

When she and the other person in the vehicle observe an unusual scene, she adds: ‘The cow is s *** na.’

As the animal dodges attempts to quarrel with her and heads towards her vehicle, Mrs. Chapman exclaims, ‘We’re playing with a cow!’

Video uploaded by Ms. Chapman Facebook, has been viewed more than 137,000 times, with the incident even prompting Idaho State Police to issue a statement condemning those who slowed down the filming of the scenes.

Cattle in the footage run across an interstate freeway as people on horseback try to get them back to their trailer in Idaho

The incident took place after police dispatchers received calls about cows blocking traffic on the interstate.

Two police officers, State Army soldier Weinstein and Sergeant Farley, arrived to find two cows at the construction site between the lanes and the other safely along the highway.

At first, the soldiers tried to use their patrol cars to get the cows into their owner’s trailer, but it didn’t work.

The riders were much luckier and managed to drive the spoiled cows back towards their trailer after getting them off the road.

However, one cow freed herself and decided to continue her adventure.

Sergeant Steve Farley told KTVB: ‘When we tried to get the cow in the trailer, she changed her mind and decided to take the interstate once again.

“Two people on horseback were able to follow her and eventually be able to tether and secure her so we could keep her away from the interstate.”

He added: “They did a fantastic job. We really appreciate that these two came out with their horses, because without their help we wouldn’t have gotten her inside. ‘

It took more than two hours to get the fugitives back to the barn, but none of the cows or rescuers were injured in the operation.

However, police on Facebook hit drivers who were slowing down on the interstate to film bizarre scenes.

They announced: ‘There has been almost no happy ending. Many passing drivers remained focused and vigilant, while cowboys and soldiers struggled to beat stubborn cattle to the best of their ability.

“However, other drivers took their eyes off the road and put their hands away from the steering wheel to take photos or video.

“A few of them even stopped in the middle of the interstate with their cameras turned off and the collision was avoided only thanks to those drivers who stayed focused.

‘Thanks to that vigilant driver.’
