The cottage offers uninterrupted sea views and instant access to the sandy beach, but without running water or electricity.

The 96-square-foot beach cottage on the picturesque coast is on the market for just under £ 60,000.

A small 12 by 8-foot beach cottage in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, has been on sale for a whopping £ 60,000.

The owners of the wooden hut, which they have owned for 20 years, have decided to cash in due to the growing demand from the residents.

While the cottage has no running water or electricity, it has unobstructed sea views and direct access to the sandy beach.

The 96-square-foot C4 hut is located in the sought-after part of the Avenues Marine Parade. Cottages in this area have not changed hands for decades.

In 2020 and 2021, very few beach huts were for sale, as the owners decided to keep them due to lack of holidays abroad due to coronavirus locks.

There are about 450 huts in the Clacton area of the Tendring Peninsula. The area was part of a £ 35 million regeneration scheme in 2015, which included 23 new bay beaches formed east of Clacton Pier, creating many sandy beaches.

The new owner of the cottage would also have to pay an annual royalty to the local council, which is around £ 266 for locals and £ 530 for non-residents.

James Eniffer of Sheen’s real estate agents who sell the cottage said: “Most of the cottages in the area are in a single row overlooking the promenade, where you can step straight onto the sandy beach.

“The huts have no connected facilities, but there are public toilets, cafes and several water taps nearby, located by the sea.

“Each cottage is unique in that the vendors have equipped it differently, and most have some storage or kitchen units.

“The owners have had this cottage for about 20 years, and the owners have been around for almost 37 years. They stay in the family for another generation or two.

“In 2020, we saw that there were very few sales in the Clacton / Holland area, as most owners were so eager to keep them during the first closure.

“With the closure of holidays abroad, the demand for British holidays at sea has gone over the roof.

“We saw a lot of people willing to pay good sums to secure a beach cottage that they could share with friends and family.

“It’s often a long-term investment, as many families have kept their cottage for more than 20 years.

“Although prices may seem high now, they are always maintained as an asset that can always be sold later, so many see them as a good investment for themselves and their families that they can enjoy for years to come.”
