Coroner Paul Bennett said a full investigation into her death would not be possible until the ongoing criminal investigation is completed.

He said: “The process by which the investigation was launched was overtaken by events.”

The coroner then postponed the investigation to a date to be determined later.

Haines, a stage from Lamphey in Pembrokeshire, has not yet spoken out and was in custody when he appeared in court in Swansea last month.

Prosecutor Michael Cray said at the trial that Lily was seen on CCTV at the Paddles nightclub and later strolled around the city, but was later found dead.

He said he and Haines had not known each other before the night of the alleged murder, and told the court that Lily had been strangled.

In tribute after her death, Lily’s family said: ‘Lily was a kind and caring daughter who will be greatly missed by all.

‘The family is very grateful to all of Lily’s friends for their support.’

Flowers were also laid at the mill pond next to historic Pembroke Castle in memory of Miss Sullivan supermarket worker.

Family friend Byron John added: ‘Lily was a kind and lovely young woman, well-spoken and very grown up for her age.

‘She had her whole life ahead of her. It’s just awful. Her mother Anna adored her, she was single and they were very close. ‘

Friends said Lily was a talented rider and grew up with a love of ponies and the countryside.

But friends said she was a typical 18-year-old who loved fashion, music and evenings with friends.

Haines plays goalkeeper for the cricket club Lamphey near Pembroke and is described as a ‘hard hitting racket’ who ‘likes to entertain and celebrate victories’.
