An 80-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were killed in the same region of Scotland after being hit by cars less than an hour apart, and police are asking for information.

The incidents happened just an hour apart

An elderly man, 80 years old, has died after being hit by a car in one hour after another fatal accident in the same region of Scotland.

The retiree died tragically after being hit by a vehicle on Whifflet Street in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, around 7.20pm on Thursday.

An unidentified 80-year-old man has been pronounced dead at the scene, reports daily record.

Sergeant John Tait of Motherwell Road Police said: “Unfortunately, there have been two fatal road accidents in the region in a short time.

“We want to speak to anyone who was in the Whifflet Street area at the time or has a camera footage of the incident to contact over 101, which cites the reference number for Incident 2982 of January 13, 2022.”

Police are investigating the incident and another fatal less than an hour earlier not far away, where a woman was also hit by a car.

A woman was killed on Croftfoot Road near Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire at 6.35pm that night.

The 55-year-old was also reportedly dead at the scene Scottish Police.

Police have also urged anyone with information or camera footage of any incident to come forward.

Lanarkshire police tweeted: “Police officers in South Lanarkshire are asking for witnesses after a 55-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed on Croftfoot Road in the evening. The incident happened around 6.35pm.

“For any information, call 101 and quote incident No. 2816 of January 13, 22.”
