Virginia Giuffre she praised the court’s ruling, which allowed her to file a civil lawsuit against the duke York to continue the trial.

Judge Lewis A Kaplan on Wednesday rejected the duke’s lawyers’ motion to dismiss the lawsuit after arguing that Ms. Giuffre had waived her right to pursue the royal family by signing a confidential settlement with the disgraced financier. Jeffrey Epstein

Ms. Giuffre is suing the Duke of the United States for sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.

She wrote on Twitter she was “satisfied” with the verdict, adding, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to uncover the truth, and I am deeply grateful to my outstanding legal team.

“Their determination helps me seek justice from those who have hurt me and many others. My goal has always been to show that the rich and powerful are not above the law and must be held accountable.

“I’m not walking this path alone, but along with countless other victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking.”

It came after Queen Andrew stripped him of his honorary military roles and abandoned the use of the HRH style in a dramatic omission from the civilian sexual case.

Andrew, who was born as NJ.KV, will not use it in any official role, the royal source said, and the duke has also been stripped of the rest of the royal patronage.

The decision represents the duke’s complete removal from official royal life and an attempt to distance the monarchy from Andrew, who was once second in line for the throne as a reserve heir, in the year of the queen’s platinum jubilee.

Andrew is paving the way for an out-of-court settlement with Ms. Giuffre, without fearing that his decision – which the public is likely to view negatively – would be linked to the royal family.

Ms Giuffre claims Andrew’s friend Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her to have sex with the Duke when she was 17 and a minor under U.S. law.

The Duke vehemently denied the allegations.

A royal source said the issue had been much debated in the royal family, making it likely that the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge were involved in crisis talks on the matter.

Buckingham Palace wrote in a statement on Thursday: “With the Queen’s approval and consent, the Duke of York and the King’s patronage have been returned to the Queen.

“The Duke of York will continue to perform no public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.”

It is understood that the decision was made amicably between the queen and her son, but the final decision would fall on the monarch and would be difficult.

Like the former Royal A naval officer who served in the Falkland War, Andrew will feel strongly about losing touch with military units and regiments, among which the most prestigious is a colonel of the Grenadier Guard.

The source said military posts would be redeployed to other members of the royal family.

But Andrew will retain his rank of Vice Admiral and the role of State Adviser, taken over by the monarch’s spouses and the next four adults in the line of succession.

It is not clear how the decision will affect the level of security that has now been lowered for the duke.

The Queen is the leader of the armed forces and honorary military appointments are in her gift.

The palace had previously said the duke’s military appointments were dormant after he resigned from public office in 2019 after a disastrous interview with Newsnight.

But so far he has still retained roles, leaving eight British regiments more than two years later in limbo.

A source close to the duke said he would “continue to defend” against Ms. Giuffre’s allegations following a judge’s decision to reject an attempt by his legal team to dismiss the case.

The source said: “Given the firmness with which Judge Kaplan welcomed our arguments, the verdict does not surprise us.

“However, this was not a judgment on the merits of Mrs Giuffre’s allegations.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and the Duke will continue to defend himself against these claims.”

Andrew’s other British honorary military roles were: Honorary Air Force Commodore RAF Lossiemouth; Supreme Colonel of the Royal Irish Regiment; the supreme colonel of the school assembly of small arms; commander of the air force of the fleet; Royal Colonel Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland; Deputy Supreme Colonel of the Queen Lancers (Queen Elizabeth’s Own); and Chief Colonel of the Yorkshire Regiment.
