HHello and welcome to the live Telegraph Sport broadcast from the Premier League match between Brighton and Crystal Palace at Amex.

Brighton coach Graham Potter has urged his players to continue to harness the spirit of Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson, who must never be said to die, in tonight’s vicious game with Crystal Palace.

High-flying Albion has snatched five points in the Premier League this season for added time goals, including a dramatic 1-1 draw in September with bitter rival Palace at Selhurst Park.

Patrick Vieira’s party travels to the South Coast on Friday night for a sold-out return match at Amex Stadium.

Head coach Galeb Potter, who also saw his team win at Brentford and drew at Southampton and Chelsea thanks to goals scored after the 90th minute, wants to continue to beat over results in the so-called “Fergie time”.

“The important thing is to have as a team,” he said.

Vieira, meanwhile, praised Jean-Philippe Matete’s continued commitment after admitting it was a “challenge” for the loan at Crystal Palace.

The striker scored his third goal for the club last weekend, earning recognition for playing for Millwall despite links with St Etienne in the current transfer window.

He has only started six times since Mateta moved to Selhurst Park last January on an 18-month loan from Mainz, but will return to the scene of one of his best moments in a Palace shirt tonight.

The French striker opened his account for the South Londoners last season, but Christian Benteke’s good form in 2021 and the arrival of Odsonne Edouard in August further limited the chances for the 24-year-old.

Vieira, who saw Matete’s net against Norwich last month and back in Millwall, said: “I think it was really a challenge for him.

“Ever since he’s been at this football club, he hasn’t had that many opportunities to play. Ever since I came when Christian and Edouard arrived, he’s had less time.

“But every time the team needed him to perform, he did his best. He was rewarded with a few goals he scored, so being there, he’s with us, part of the team and the team.”
