Conor McGregor: Who will he fight next?

UFC President Dana White has decided that Justin Gaeth is – and not Conor McGregor – will challenge lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira.

McGregor and Oliveira are often exchanged on social networks with the Irishman, after returning from injury he tackled the 155 lb belt challenge.

McGregor will return this summer after breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 last July.

It’s unlikely to be against Oliveira, but UFC King White has confirmed that he intends to plan Oliveira’s title defense after facing up against leading rival Gaethje.

“We have to see how all these matches will go [but] We need to see Oliveiro against Gaethje first, ”White said BT Sport. “And then determine who will be next for the title.

“I don’t know the answer to these questions about who will fight against whom, but whatever you compare them to, it’s all good. We can do a lot of different things in this division.

“Even as long as Conor is out with such an injury, who knows how long he’ll be back and be here. He needs to take his time and let it heal to get back one hundred percent. Then we’ll work. Figure out what awaits them next . “

White had previously told McGregor that he was likely to lead the bill because of his status in the division.

The Irishman slipped to ninth place in the rankings behind Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush, who will meet in the Octagon next month.

Once the queue is formed, the winner of this fight will likely try to assert his status as the next natural candidate for Oliveira’s crown if he defeats Gaethje.

Gaethje has secured the status of a leading competitor with a win over Michael Chandler last year exposed his rival in a brutal war.
