Rosa Maryon says that on May 21, 2020, she did not have a partner, support and pain relief for 98% of her birth. She is angry at the prime minister for ignoring covid’s rules for entertainment while others did the right thing

Rosa Maryon went through childbirth alone

The mother, who was involved for the first time, said she was outraged when she heard the prime minister Boris Johnson was “nursing a cat” the day she was forced to give birth alone in a dark hospital room.

Rosa Maryon had to leave her partner in front of the maternity ward before her stretched-out grandmother placed her alone in a dark room for more than three hours.

The 26-year-old said she was hysterical, left without support or pain relief as the overworked nurse cared for other patients.

She was alone for three and a half hours during the birth, as she expanded from 1 cm to 9 cm, not knowing when her grandmother would examine her next.

It was May 21, 2020, when her baby girl Esme was born the day after Boris had a Bring Your Own Booze party on Downing Street with more than 100 people.

Rosa, a doctoral student and lecturer at the University of the West of England, told the Mirror: “I was scared and alone and everyone was taking care of the cat.

“It really pisses me off.

“There are so many people who have made their own, we were standing in front of the church at the funeral of a 13-year-old when only a few mourners were allowed inside, I myself survived hard work.

“Every individual sacrificed a lot, we saw it was the right thing to do, it was like a national effort, and they had fun and thought we were all mugs.”

Roso was dropped off at the door of Heath Hospital in Cardiff by the father of her child Fabian, as he was told he would only be allowed during an “active birth”.

She herself had already attended check-ups and meetings with her grandmother, but was devastated when she learned that she would have no emotional support in the early stages of childbirth.

Rosa added, “I had contractions every 30 seconds and when Grandma came back to examine me, I was 9 inches wide and told me to call my partner.”

Esme’s father Fabian managed to rush to the hospital to see how his daughter arrived, but he arrived at the hospital just 60 minutes before leaving Roso and Esme alone again.

She added: “I spent 98% of the birth without pain relief, without a partner and without support.”

Rosa said she feels so shocked by the birth experience that she said she would need counseling before even thinking about having another child.

“You need an advocate and emotional support, and I didn’t get that.

“You wonder if Carrie [Boris Johnson’s wife] she was alone when she gave birth. “
