Ralf Rangnick has called on his unsuccessful Manchester United players to start sharing domestic truths like Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo noted this week that United’s “nightmare” is the season will continue unless the team solves the problem of their relationship. Rangnick believes other players should be free to take Ronaldo’s lead so they’re not afraid to give their opinion in the locker room.

“We have so many top, talented players and that brings me back to what Cristiano said – we have to work together and develop as a team and if we have to talk to the boys very directly, it helps a lot, even in the locker room,” said the interim coach. United before Saturday’s game at Aston Villa. “If, for example, Cristiano or any other player addresses this directly to players on the pitch or in the locker room, they are more than welcome to do so.

“I will do this myself as a coach – and my coaching staff in the pre- and post-match video – but we can only develop individual players if we develop the team’s capabilities. Not just Cristiano, we have Edinson [Cavani], we have Harry [Maguire], we have quite a few other older actors, David de Gea at the door, Victor Lindelof, Bruno [Fernandes].

“We have enough experienced senior players who can be role models not only in training sessions, on the pitch and matches, but also in all those conversations that take place in the locker room or when they are together in a hotel on away or home matches. . That has to happen. In a combined team, this happens automatically and I can only invite and challenge and tell all the players, including the older players, to do it regularly, because it helps even more in the team we have at the moment. ”

Ronaldo seemed to be wondering if some of the younger players could accept the criticism, and encouraged them to follow the advice of more experienced team members. Rangnick agreed on the need to change the mindset at the club, and called on young players to be both professional and perhaps in their fight for a place in the top four.

“I think it has to happen in every single workout and in every single game and of course it’s also about what happens after situations during a game,” Rangnick said. “If things don’t go in the right direction, you have to behave in a certain way. It’s also a role model – not just for the elderly like Cristiano, but also for the younger ones and how you deal with these situations. In the end, it’s a team sport… where we have to play together, and older players and youngsters have to play as a team and have to be united on the court. ”

Rangnick said he will pull any player he thinks he’s not trying hard enough. “If one of our players in the game doesn’t do his best and puts all his effort into it, I’ll solve it, you can be sure. I haven’t seen that yet, “he said.

Alan Shearer turned to Marcus Rashford in an attempt help the English attacker in his acute fall in shape and Rangnick said to keep an eye on the player. “I think in the first 20 minutes against Villa [in the FA Cup on Monday] he was good, he was on fire, he was emotionally involved, but then after the first 30 minutes he got worse and didn’t play at the same energy level, ”Rangnick said.

“We need to talk about this. I do this regularly. Does he need help? What does it require? So I don’t see any player who doesn’t care about the club or who doesn’t want to play at the best and highest possible level.”
