A woman dies after being pushed in front of a subway train in New York’s Times Square

The woman was pushed from the subway platform to her death on the path of the oncoming train at Times Square, according to New York City transit police.

The incident happened on January 15 around 9.40 EST; According to the New York Police Department, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported that a woman was standing near the N, Q and R train platform on Times Square-42nd Street as the man approached and pushed her in front of the R train heading south.

The suspect was taken into custody. The woman’s name and age were not immediately available.

Her death is the result of a renewed promise by Mayor Eric Adams to increase police presence at subway stations to prevent crime.
