Xhaka was ruled out again on Thursday

Arsenal are demanding the postponement of Tottenham

Arsenal have made a request Premier League rearrange Sunday’s showdown with Tottenham.

After Thursday’s game against Liverpool, coach Mikel Arteta has a number of new injury problems. In addition, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are hosting the African Cup of Nations, while Xhaka is suspended.

A decision on whether the match can resume on Saturday will be made.

“The Premier League has received a request for a postponement from Arsenal FC in connection with the away match against Tottenham Hotspur, which will take place on Sunday, January 16, at 4.30 pm,” the Premier League said.

“The Premier League board will meet tomorrow to review the application and inform both clubs and their fans of its decision.”

Carragher encourages Arsenal to sell Xhako

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has encouraged Arsenal to move to Xhaka.

The Swiss midfielder has been ruled out in the early stages of the showdown at Anfield, giving him five red cards since moving to the club.

While Xhaka has had occasional strong performances over the years, he has often left the team in the lurch with reckless decisions.

“At Xhaka, we said before the game that every coach chooses him to be a good character, a good coach, a good guy, he’s a good player, we’ve seen that in the Switzerland shirt and once again in the Arsenal shirt,” Carragher said.

“But tonight is the responsibility in this regard.”

Sake’s last injury

Arteta said he is not sure Bukayo Saka will be available for the match against the Spurs if it continues.

The English national team player withdrew from the match against Liverpool, as he made a stellar defense in the team.

Saka enjoyed a great campaign and as a graduate of the Arsenal Academy he will desperately want to impress at the team’s probably biggest match of the season.

“He felt something in the last minutes, he was really tired,” Arteta said after the Liverpool game.

“I don’t know. He’s a young boy and he’s recovering very quickly. But he’s been playing a lot of minutes in recent months, so let’s see who’s available.”
