Dry skin can be the result of many habits, but be careful if you prefer to bathe twice a day. An expert tells you why this is important.
Dry skin is common in the winter season. This is a condition where your skin becomes rough due to constant itching, cracking and peeling. However, if your skin is still dry, there are a few reasons for this. Did you know that bathing several times a day can cause dry skin? Yes, ladies, it’s true.
Well, when it comes to bathing, most of us don’t really think about bathing twice a day. But some people prefer to bathe twice a day, especially during the summer season. And this can be considered one of your mistakes in bathing!
To maintain personal hygiene, most of us have probably learned that bathing once a day is a must. However, taking long and frequent showers it can remove the natural moisture of your skin and cause dry skin. In fact, it can cause itching and cracking.

HealthShots has been contacted Dr. Rinky Kapoor, consultant dermatologist, cosmetic dermatologist and dermatologist, The Esthetic Clinics, to understand why your skin dries out due to a lot of showering.
An expert tells you how excessive bathing can cause dry skin:
Too many baths can dry out the skin, cause an imbalance of good and bad bacteria, cause the skin to lose protective essential oils, irritate the skin and cause itching, cause skin cracks that increase skin sensitivity to microbes, infections and allergies.

So how often should you bathe or shower?
Norms say you should bathe at least once a day as it helps prevent bad odor. Dr Kapoor says: “How many times a day you bathe depends on your skin and the work (lifestyle) you do, such as working in the sun, farming, exercising, running, cycling, etc.”

He adds: “If you don’t shower enough, you cause more skin problems such as acne, odor, clogged pores, hyperpigmentation, peeling and blemishes on the skin. ” For some, taking a shower every other day or once every three days works perfectly. It is important to shower or bathe in the right way, which includes:
- Keeping the water temperature lukewarm (neither cold nor hot).
- On days when you are not bathing, make sure to wipe your body with a warm cloth.
- Shower time should be a maximum of 5-7 minutes.
- Dry yourself with a soft absorbent towel.
- Moisturize within three minutes after bathing or showering.
Keep these things in mind if you want to avoid dry skin after showering!
