The Ministry of Defense announced that service personnel were banned from traveling to Ukraine due to reports that British soldiers were absent without permission to fight Russia.

The statement followed reports that 19-year-old Guardsman Coldstream was among as many as four missing British soldiers feared they traveled to Ukraine after the Russian invasion.

A Defense Ministry spokesman added: “All servicemen are banned from traveling to Ukraine until further notice.

“This is true whether the service technician is on vacation or not. Staff traveling to Ukraine will face disciplinary and administrative consequences.”

The Ministry of Defense added that it would not comment on specific cases.

As reported by The Sun, teenager Coldstream Guardsman, who was staying at Windsor Barracks, wrote a farewell letter to his parents and over the weekend bought a ticket to Poland with the intention of crossing Ukraine.

Everyone is traveling to Ukraine is banned by official military advice from the United Kingdom.

He states that going to Ukraine to fight or help others involved in the conflict could be against the law and could lead to prosecution.

Another issue is that the UK has limited consular support in Ukraine and is unlikely to be able to offer assistance to anyone in the country.

It is understood that UK defense chiefs are acutely aware of the wishes of people at home who want to help Ukrainians after the Russian invasion, but the only support they can provide is of a defensive nature.
