Sourabh Arya, a fitness expert and nutritionist from New Delhi, spoke to Health Shots about a variety of household chores that can burn as many calories as strenuous exercise.

“You can improve your fitness by turning regular housework and house cleaning into exercise. Whether it’s sweeping the home or thoroughly cleaning the bathroom, all household chores help burn calories. This is where efficiency plays a key role. Manage the time you perform certain tasks. Household activities that require a lot of effort from moderate to strong intensity can also be good for burning a few calories. says Arya.

These daily activities can be a great form of exercise if you are someone who is trying to find time to exercise. You can turn to a regular cleaning routine such as dusting, brooms and wiping the house stay fit if you hate walking out just for training.

Below are some household activities you can do to burn calories:

1. Sweeping and wiping the floor

When you bend and stretch your arms to clean hard-to-reach places in the house, you surprisingly activate the core muscles and stretch your body. All of this is great cardio workout. However, keep in mind that your tummy and your core muscles will be involved as you clean the house and wipe the floor. When you make your house squeak, you can burn 195 calories an hour!

2. Sucking at home

Although a vacuum cleaner can be an easier alternative to regular cleaning, it can also help you get back in shape.
