Fury was ordered in December to defend his belt against Whyte, who is a mandatory challenger to the “Gypsy King” and a temporary title holder.

Whyte seemed to have signed a contract just to fight at the deadline of 22 Februarythus making the duel finally official after much ridicule by Fury.

How much will the fighters earn?

Fury promoter Frank Warren won the wallet offer with his efforts of around £ 30 million, beating the £ 23 million proposed by Whyte promoter Eddie Hearn. Both were record offers in the history of boxing.

An 80/20 per cent wallet split has been agreed in favor of Champion Fury, although the split only covers 90 per cent of the total winning bid (£ 27 million) – as the promoter has to deposit the remaining 10 per cent.

As such, Fury will take home around £ 21.5 million and Whyte around £ 5.5 million.

The winner will receive a 10% deposit (£ 3 million).

Whyte, 34, holds the professional record (28-2, 19 KOs). He last fought in March 2021 and knocked out Alexander Povetkin to avenge his own defeat against Russia in August 2020.
