Google has announced this morning that on April 26, 2022, it will destroy the URL parameters tool in the legacy Google Search Console. This is somewhat surprising because Google said it was planning greatly improved and that’s what some Google employees wanted to see the tool goes away.
Google wrote that “the tool for URL parameters in the Search Console will be discontinued within a month.” Google added that “current users of the tool do not require any action.”
Google said it wasn’t used much, only about 1%, Google wrote. “Over the years, Google has become much better at guessing which parameters are useful on a site and which are – simply put – useless. In fact, only about 1% of the parameter configurations currently specified in the URL parameter tool are usable for crawling. Due to the low value of the tool for Google and Search Console users, we will discontinue the URL settings tool within one month. “
