Teenage boxing talent Ali Tazeem called “next”. Amir Khan‘, died in a tragic car accident in Wolverhampton at the age of 18.

The news of Tazeem’s death was confirmed on Sunday morning by his promoter Sam Jones after he uploaded an emotional Twitter post.

‘This morning I woke up to the news that Ali Tazeem had passed away at the age of 18. I can’t believe I can’t even handle this properly.

‘It was only yesterday that we talked about how he will light up the professional game, all I can think about is Ali and his lovely family.’

As reported by On Trend, the incident happened in Birmingham after a car and a bus collided at an intersection.

Three people are believed to have been injured and Tazeem has sadly died.

The highly rated youngster signed a professional contract with Probellum only three weeks ago and had a huge boxing career ahead of him.

After an extremely successful amateur career, where he won 15 international gold medals in 51 bouts, losing only six times, Tazeem expected a great future in the paid ranks.

The Midlands star only a few days ago expressed his joy at signing a professional contract.

Bolton-born boxing legend Khan compared the young man to himself after previously saying, ‘He will be the next self and he will go down in history.’

Bolton boxer Amir Khan had previously greeted the teenager and insisted he had a great future ahead of him.

When Tazeem won two gold medals at the Bristol Boxing Cup, he told the Express and Star in 2020: “I definitely think it’s definitely the next big thing.

“I mean, the set of skills he has, the movement, it all really reminds me of myself when I was younger, and how I struggled.

I definitely think he has everything he needs [to succeed].

“It was especially impressive for me that he moved to a higher weight class to be more demanding and ended up winning gold in both weight categories [in Bristol].
