Nigel Farage has beaten Piers Morgan’s lead show for the first time since the launch of TalkTV in a battle to win over viewers of established media brands.

It was attended by about 58,000 spectators Take a look at Mr. Morgan’s program on the Rupert Murdoch Channel at its peak Monday night, compared to 73,600 for Mr Farage on GB News, according to compiler of TV ratings BARB.

It marks a dramatic decline compared to the excellent ratings given by former Good Morgan Britain leader on his debut night just two weeks earlier.

Viewers flocked to the canal to watch an uncensored launch by Piers Morgan on April 25th, which included an exclusive interview with Donald Trump. He raced ahead of rivals and attracted around 316,800 audiences, reaching a peak of 400,000.

At the time, Mr Morgan boasted on Twitter that his show had “received five times more views” than Mr Farage’s program. Its number of viewers fell to just 61,700 a week later, before reaching a new low this week.

Mr Murdoch started TalkTV as a channel offering American-style opinion news that contradicts the BBC with a clear demand for an alternative. He reportedly spent £ 50m on a three-year contract with Mr Morgan to increase viewership after the presenter’s success on ITV.

A novice competitor GB News now regularly beats TalkTV in estimates, however, Mr Trump was encouraged to claim he was behind the channel’s early success.

He said: “The ratings of Piers Morgan’s interview with me were excellent! Unfortunately, after that interview, his show was completely bombarded because of the false narrative he was trying to portray.

“The fact is, I’ve got a new look at Piers up close and he doesn’t have what it takes anymore. It’s over for him!”

TalkTV also hired Sharon Osbourne and Tom Newton-Dunn as hosts. Ms. Osbourne’s show also had problems, with the number of viewers dropping from an average of 43,900 to just 6,000 last week. The BBC’s 24-hour news channel generally attracts around 80,000 viewers in the evening at around the same time, between 9pm and 10pm.

Mr. Morgan joined forces with Mr. Murdoch after his a dramatic exit from ITV’s Good Morning Britain last year.

Good morning, the British average audience fell by 21 per cent after the high-profile presenter left after an argument over the Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Mr Morgan said ITV had “surrendered to the awakened crowd” because it supported the Duchess when she complained that he had branded her a liar. The presenter was later acquitted of the violation after a wave of complaints to media regulator Ofcom.

Ofcom said Mr Morgan was entitled to claim that he did not believe the claims of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their interview with Oprah and that he had the right to “retain and express firm views that strongly challenged their report”.
