Brendan Rodgers has been under the scrutiny of fans again in recent weeks, so this was the result he needed before this year’s summer overhaul.

Leicester could still secure a place in the top ten in the Premier League after Jamie Vardy’s first goals at King Power Stadium after 28 November put the home side on the road to a well-deserved victory.

For Rodgers, it turned out to be a difficult season, which was criticized by fans for inconsistent results, and tensions were rising after last week’s defeats against Roma and Everton.

Three goals in the second half were enough to lift Leicester into the top half, and the already-relegated Norwich suffered its 25th defeat of the season.

Due to the poor campaign of Norwich, they secured another undesirable statistic, as 78 goals received exceeded their previous record of 77 best in the 2004/05 season.

Both Norwich head coach Dean Smith and Rodgers are counting down the days until the opening of the summer transfer window as they prepare for a major operation on their teams.

Rodgers wants up to six new signatures, with the sale needed to raise funds, and must urgently end this season with some momentum.

Leicester were booed in Sunday’s defeat to Everton at the end of each half, but got off to a good start here, with Norwich goalkeeper Angus Gunn rejecting James Maddison and Vardy with an excellent double defense in the 11th minute.

Gunn first appeared in Norwich in more than two months and proved to be inspired, frustrated Maddison again, then stopped with a good reflex and rejected Ademol Lookman from six yards out.

Norwich played without pressure, Chelsea loan Billy Gilmour dictated the pace and Teemu Pukki posed problems with his smart running.

Pukki almost put Norwich in the lead after being dropped by teenage winger Tony Springett and hitting a low goal.

Nonetheless, Gunn was finally defeated in the nine minutes of the second half when Vardy’s shot was strongly blocked by Grant Hanley to break through the goalkeeper.

While this goal was a coincidence, Vardy’s second in the 62nd minute was brilliantly executed when the striker found a place in the game and hit a corner kick.

Maddison added a third against his former club with a second decisive finish, taking advantage of Gunn’s poor bounce from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross.

Norwich is waiting for the championship.
