She traveled to the capital to open the Jeroen Pit House, which will accommodate children in need 24 hours a day.

The state-of-the-art building also includes a sensory room and a home cinema, providing an escape for patients living there and their families.

The Jeroen Pit House in Amsterdam took two years to build, and some aspects of its construction have been postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The house was supposed to open in February, but it finally opened its doors this week, and Maxima did the honor.

Built around a shared kitchen and living area, the purpose of the house is to facilitate the transition from a hospital to a home for children and their families.

In addition to accommodation, the house staff will also educate parents on how to tackle life at home with chronically ill children.
