Chelsea the boss Thomas Tuchel was fined £20,000 after nominating a referee Anthony Taylor after the controversial derby draw with Tottenham, he should not take charge of club matches in the future.
The 49-year-old German was also warned about his future behavior after he admitted a Football Association charge of misconduct over outspoken comments at the post-match press conference at Stamford Bridge on August 14.
An FA statement read: “Thomas Tuchel of Chelsea has been fined £20,000 by the Independent Regulatory Commission and cautioned for his future conduct for breaching FA Rule E3.1 at the post-match press conference on Sunday 14 August 2022.
“The manager acknowledged that his comments were their own First League match against Tottenham constitutes misconduct by implying bias, questioning the integrity of the match referee and bringing the game into disrepute.
“The independent regulatory commission’s written reasons for this penalty and warning will be published in due course.”
Tuchel’s emotions ran high after the tense Premier League clash ended 2-2 thanks to Spurs captain Harry Kane’s stoppage-time equaliser.
Chelsea’s head coach and his opponent Antonio Conte were booked for a close challenge on the sideline during the game, with the home side calling in vain for a free-kick in the form of an open goal for the visitors as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg parried Kalidou Koulibaly’s first-time shot.
However, both were sent off after another clash when they held hands at the final whistle as Kane’s late header robbed Reece James of his match-winner status seconds after Spurs defender Christian Romero had avoided a drag-on penalty Marc Cucurella to the ground by a hair’s breadth despite a VAR review.
Asked if Taylor should not be officiating the Blues again, Tuchel said: “Maybe it would be better, maybe it would be better.”
He added: “I don’t think it’s just some fans who think that; I guarantee you that the whole wardrobe of us, every person thinks so.
“Not just the fans. You know the players, they know what’s going on when they’re on the field. They know it.”
VAR official Mike Dean he later admitted that he should have asked Taylor to review the Romero-Cucurella incident.
Tuchel was given a one-match ban, which he unsuccessfully appealed, and a £35,000 fine for his part in the brawl, while Conte was fined £15,000 but received no further punishment.
