What should I do about food and drink?

Although food and drink cannot be brought into the palace, mourners will be able to leave and rejoin the queue to purchase refreshments and use the portals.

Visitors are only allowed one small bag per person into the Palace of Westminster. It must be less than 40cm x 30cm x 20cm, with one simple opening or zip to allow it to move quickly through security.

If visitors bring a large bag that is not permitted to be taken into the Palace of Westminster, a bag drop facility will be available prior to entering the security checkpoint.

Can I take photos?

Photography and video recording will be prohibited in Westminster Hall, where phones will be required to be on silent mode.

What can’t I bring?

Prohibited items include flowers, candles, soft toys and photographs, which may only be left in the designated flower area in the nearby Green Park.

Sharp objects, personal protective equipment that could be used as a weapon, whistles and laser devices, banners, flags, sleeping blankets and folding chairs are also prohibited. When visitors arrive at the palace, airport-like security search points will be in place.
