The actress, who has not yet officially announced her pregnancy, has said in previous interviews that she is not sure about having children.

“I don’t think you can ever plan for the right, exact time,” she told The Times in 2013.

“I don’t feel ready to have kids because I want to know that I can come back and still be valuable to the industry. That’s only going to happen when I feel a little more polished . . . or at least when I’ve accomplished something, at which I am proud of.

In an interview with the Telegraph in 2018, Arterton revealed similar concerns about juggling children with a career: ‘I’m a neurotic person though and I worry and think, ‘Oh my God, when I have kids, am I still going to be able to do all this?’

“When we were kids, my mom and grandma didn’t work, and I think that made them sad. It affected me.”

Arterton, who later wrote a fictional story about a Bond girl who rejected a spy’s advances, also said people were ‘threatened’ by women who did not want children.

She declined to comment yesterday.
