In general, says Google I should never have let Google index your internal search results pages. But Google’s John Mueller said you shouldn’t even think about going against Google’s advice, if you have good category pages, you won’t even need to try it.

John said further Twitter “If you have good category pages, there’s usually no need to index the search pages.” This means that (1) people won’t have to search your site to find what they’re looking for, they can just use your navigation, and (2) Google will index your category pages and rank them if you want Google to rank them search results page then maybe it should be a category page…

John also added that your internal search results pages can cause spam or other problems. John said, “It’s also possible to accidentally end up with ‘buy cheap drugs at 1-800-PILLS4YOU’ indexed search pages if you don’t take care of them beforehand.”
