World Cup Matches: When the last two matches are held in Qatar

Identity 2022 World Cup Finalists are now known when Argentina take on defending champions France on Sunday.

Before that comes the third-place play-off – a match no team ever wants to play in after losing in the semi-finals – with Croatia will face Morocco on Saturday.

The twenty-second edition of the quadrennial tournament, which began way back in 1930, is also the first to be held in an Arab country. The country of Qatar is the smallest country in terms of size (11,600 km²) and the population (2.7 million) they will ever host.

Presented World Cup eight groups of four teams each before the top two from each advanced to the round of 16, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

This format will be modified for 2026 World Cup when the tournament will be expanded to 48 teams as co-hosts USA, Mexico and Canada.

When did the elimination fights start?

The elimination fights of this year’s World Cup started on Saturday 3rd December with the Round of 16, before progressing to the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals.

A total of 16 teams advanced to the knockout stages. These were the Netherlands, Senegal, England, USA, Argentina, Poland, France, Australia, Morocco, Croatia, Japan, Spain, Brazil, Switzerland, Portugal and South Korea.

The Netherlands, England, Argentina, France, Croatia, Brazil, Morocco and Portugal qualified for the quarter-finals.

The national teams of Argentina, Croatia, France and Morocco qualified for the semi-finals.

Argentina is the first confirmed team in the World Cup finals.

What date is the 2022 world cup final?

The last match of the World Cup will be held on Qatar National Day – Sunday, December 18. It will kick off at 3pm (GMT), 6pm local time, at the 80,000-seater Lusail Stadium.
