A 24-year-old Royal Navy sailor has been found dead at his base in Cornwall while an inquest into his death remains open and suspended

A Royal Navy sailor has been found dead at a training base in Cornwall while an inquest into his death remains open and suspended.
Benjamin Thomas, from Mold, Flintshire, was found at HMS Raleigh’s coastal base in Torpoint on January 30.
The Cornwall Coroner opened and closed an inquest into the death of 24-year-old Leading Hand on Friday, February 10.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Navy confirmed that his next of kin had been informed.
Details about the cause of his death have not been released.
Benjamin Thomas, from Mold, Flintshire, was found on January 30 at HMS Raleigh’s coastal base in Torpoint, Cornwall.
She said: “The thoughts and sympathies of the Royal Navy go out to the family and friends.
“It would be inappropriate to comment and any further inquiries should be directed to the coroner.”
Thomas served at the largest naval training base in the Southwest.
Basic training for the Navy’s rating takes place at HMS Raleigh, which sits on the River Lynher, and around 2,200 people are in the field every day.
