“I was very nervous,” he said, revealing that they plan to tie the knot later this summer. ‘I was afraid of falling in love – but I knew it would be my last. It would be better. I’m happy.’

Rupert Murdoch has revealed he is engaged again – to new girlfriend Ann Lesley Smith (pictured) – just six months after the pair first met and less than a year after his fourth divorce

The 92-year-old met Smith (seen together at the Super Bowl with Elon Musk), 66, last September at an event for 200 people held at his Moraga Vineyard in Bel Air, California.

Murdoch finally separated from his fourth wife Jerry Hall in August 2022 after six years of marriage (seen on their wedding day).
A businessman – whose relationship with Smith was exclusively revealed by the Daily Mail in January – revealed that he and Smith met last September at his Moraga vineyard in Bel Air, California, and explained that he called her two weeks after meeting her at an event with 200 people.
Meanwhile, Smith, a former police chaplain and widow of the late country music star Chester Smith, described the relationship as a “godsend” and revealed the pair “share the same beliefs” and “speak the same language”.
‘I have been a widow for 14 years. Like Rupert, my husband was a businessman. He worked for local newspapers, developed radio and television stations, and helped promote Univision. So I speak Rupert’s language. We share the same beliefs,” she said.
Smith went on to say that she feels she has been ‘waiting for the right time’ to get engaged again, adding that her ‘friends are happy for her’.
The summer wedding will mark the fifth time Murdoch has married.
He has six children from previous marriages: daughter Prudence MacLeod, now 64, with first wife Patricia Booker, daughter Elisabeth, now 53, and sons Lachlan, now 50, and James, now 49, with second wife Anna Mann and daughter Grace, now 21 , and Chloe, now 19, whom he shares with third wife Wendi Deng.
Murdoch and his fourth wife, the former supermodel Hall, had no children together in a six-year marriage that ended last year.
The couple tied the knot in London in March 2016 in a very low-key ceremony at Spencer House, overlooking Green Park, after a whirlwind five-month romance.

The 92-year-old shared the news in an interview with one of his own publications – the New York Post – and revealed that he proposed to Smith (seen together in January), 66, with an Asscher diamond paschal ring.

The businessman – whose relationship with Smith (pictured on holiday with Murdoch earlier this year) was exclusively revealed by the Daily Mail in January – revealed he and Smith met last September at his Moraga vineyard in Bel Air, California.
Murdoch married his first wife, former flight attendant Patricia, in 1956, but the couple split in 1967, nine years after the birth of their only child, Prudence.
In the same year he married his second wife Anna, a Glasgow-born journalist, to whom he was married for 32 years before divorcing in 1999.
As part of their divorce settlement, Anna received $1.7 billion, including $10 million in cash. CNBC.
Murdoch married Wendi just 17 days after divorcing his second wife Anne. At the time of their marriage, Murdoch was 68 and Wendi was only 30.
That marriage lasted 14 years before it was announced that the couple were separating, with a News Corp spokesperson revealing in June 2013 that their relationship had been ‘irretrievably broken down for over six months’.
Smith has been married twice – most recently to country music star Chester, who died of a heart attack in August 2008 at the age of 78.
Prior to this relationship, Smith was married to John B. Huntington, an attorney who was a descendant of one of California’s pioneer railroad families.
According to Smith’s interviews, their life together was gilded but unhappy – a former police chaplain said Christian Broadcasting Network that Huntington “physically and mentally abused her.”

Murdoch has been married four times in the past. He married his third wife, Wendi Deng, in June 1999 and the couple had two daughters, Chloe and Grace (seen in 2019), before divorcing in 2013.

He married his second wife, journalist Anna Torv, in 1967, shortly after divorcing his first wife, Patricia Booker. Murdoch had three children with Anna: daughter Elisabeth and sons Lachlan and James (pictured together)
‘It used to be wonderful. This is the kind of wedding everyone would love to have. During the day, he showered me with gifts and praised me,” she said.
‘When John started drinking, he became a different person. He would lock me out of the house. He abused me physically, mentally, emotionally…which is worse than physically because you start believing the lies.’
After the divorce, Smith said she thought about suicide “because her life was so bad” and explained to CBN that she was incredibly “ashamed” of how her marriage had ended.
“I really wanted to kill myself because my life was so bad,” she said. ‘It was all just too much. I was thinking that if I drove my car really fast into someone else, I would be done with it. Well, I was driving recklessly. I wanted it to happen [but] it’s not.’
It was then that Smith turned to her faith, explaining that she was given a book called The Four Spiritual Laws, which prompted her to ‘get on my knees… and pray for God to help me’.
“When I started walking with God, the things of this world seemed meaningless to me,” she added.
Murdoch’s latest divorce from Hall – albeit a quick one – has not been without controversy, particularly after it was revealed that the supermodel asked the Los Angeles Superior Court in early August to throw out the divorce petition.
But hours after the news broke, it emerged that Hall and Murdoch had reached a separation agreement and “remained good friends”.
The couple had been together for six years when their split was reported last June. The newspaper claimed the media tycoon ended their marriage via an email Hall allegedly received while she was waiting for him to arrive in the UK.
Hall responded by filing for divorce on July 1 in Los Angeles, rather than in Britain, where they were married.
She then hired a former counter-terrorism officer to serve Murdoch with divorce papers at RAF Brize Norton on July 4 after he attended his granddaughter’s upcoming wedding.
In the original petition, she said she did not have all of his financial information and was looking for it.
Murdoch popped the question with the marquise’s 10-carat diamond engagement ring, which is said to be worth up to $3.5 million.
In December 2021, just seven months before news of their impending divorce broke, Hall and Murdoch bought a $200 million cattle ranch – called Beaverhead – in Montana that was previously owned by oil baron Fred Koch and his children.
The purchase of the 340,000-acre ranch, located near Yellowstone National Park, was the most expensive ranch sale in Montana history.
In addition to the newly purchased ranch, Murdoch also owns a $28.8 million estate and winery in the Bel-Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, a ranch in California, and a four-story penthouse in New York City that is said to be worth around $72 million. million and a 25,000-acre sheep and cattle farm called Cavan Station in his native Australia.
Forbes also reported in 2021 that Murdoch at one point owned two properties in the UK: an 11-bedroom mansion in Oxfordshire and an apartment in London.
While the details of Hall and Murdoch’s divorce settlement or paperwork have not been released, it’s likely that their divorce was among the most expensive in the world — falling short of the honor Murdoch has earned in the past, thanks to his $1.7 billion divorce by second wife Anne.
