Footage has emerged of the moment a man was arrested outside Buckingham Palace for allegedly throwing shotgun shells on the ground.

A video obtained by Australian television network Channel Seven shows a man being handcuffed to a fence outside the palace and then being led back by three uniformed police officers.

The major security incident, which Scotland Yard says is not being treated as terrorism-related, happened just days before the royal coronation.

The area around the royal residence was cordoned off following the incident at 7pm on Tuesday, which happened just days before the king’s coronation. The cordons have since been removed.

Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald said: “Officers immediately began to detain the man and took him into police custody.

“There were no reports of shots fired or injuries to officers or members of the public.”
