The King and Queen are due to be crowned in a historic coronation at Westminster Abbey, which combines ancient traditions with a look to the future.
Charles III will become the 40th reigning monarch to be crowned at the Abbey when the Crown of St Edward is lowered onto his head at a service led by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The theme of the service is ‘Called to Serve’, reflecting the King’s commitment to God and people and his decades of public service.
Although it is rooted in Christian tradition, leaders of the country’s various religious communities will play an active role in the ceremony for the first time in history.
Representatives of the Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Buddhist religions will present items of regalia to the King and give a unanimous salute after the service.
The congregation of 2,300 people will also contain a diverse cross-section of society, including representatives from many of the Royal’s charities and the voluntary sector.
