George Russell says Max Verstappen has not apologized for calling him a “d——-” in Baku last weekend. But the British driver added that the incident is “behind him” and he will certainly not change his driving style to accommodate Red Bull’s two-time world champion.

Verstappen was furious when Russell hit his side leg as the pair battled for place at the start of the sprint race in Azerbaijan last Saturday. Russell managed to get past the Red Bull, with Verstappen’s side stand leaving a huge hole in him, putting his race in jeopardy.

The Dutchman recovered to finish second behind team-mate Sergio Perez, but then angrily confronted Russell, telling the Mercedes driver that he should have known his tires would be cold so early in the race and allowed more room accordingly. Verstappen was heard calling Russell a “d——-” and later referred to the Mercedes driver as a “princess” when speaking to Dutch reporters.

Russell said on Thursday ahead of Thursday’s race in Miami that the incident was over as far as he was concerned. “It was pretty simple from my end. I went for the move, I made the move and I moved on. He was obviously quite upset about it. But that’s racing. These things happen. We are all here to fight.”
