As part of the Big Help Out campaign, YHA London Central is organizing a mass litter pick on Monday by groups across key towns and parks in central London.

Social media users expressed surprise that some royal fans and well-wishers were relying on others to clean up their mess.

Daria wrote on Twitter: “Why can’t these people take their trash with them.”

Westminster Council said their contractor Veolia had collected an additional 50 tonnes of rubbish from the Coronation Procession area.

Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, chief executive of environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, said: “The King has told me in the past how much he hates the devastating impact of litter on the environment and how much he appreciates the work that Keep Britain Tidy does. in bringing people together to do their part in the fight against waste, so I can say that I would not want this historic event to be marked by the waste they leave behind.”
