Good afternoon and welcome to our live blog of this afternoon’s Scottish Royal Coronation celebrations.

In a historic ceremony, the monarch will be presented with Scotland’s decorations – the country’s crown jewels – during a service of thanksgiving and dedication in his honour.

The ceremony at St Giles’ Cathedral will be attended by leading figures in Scottish life and members of the People’s Procession, which will walk through the Scottish capital.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, will attend the event, as will the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The ceremony will feature centuries-old aspects of Scottish royal tradition along with new additions such as musical pieces written especially for the occasion, a psalm sung in Gaelic and the use of passages from the New Testament in the Scots language.

First Minister Humza Yousaf will read during the service, while others in attendance include Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross, Scottish Labor leader Anas Sarwar and Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton.
