HOW TO STOP OVEREATING SO MUCH FOOD
I’m during a totally different environment today because you recognize we’re still living and therefore the kids do school from home times. Four main reasons why we overeat and I am getting to tell you immediately my dear friends. It’s not what most of the people think right. Most of the people think that we’re overeating because we do not have enough willpower, we do not have enough discipline and there is such a lot restriction and deprivation that we just can’t handle it right. But I even have really found in my very own journey and with the folks that I work thereupon overeating really isn’t about any of these things and it boils right down to the four things. I’m close to discuss therefore the first reason that tons of individuals will overeat is because they’re so wont to eating consistent with an idea or a diet or a clock. That we aren’t even knowing whether we’re actually hungry or not and we’re not eating in response to the natural cues that our body is sending us. In order that is super common. I find especially for people that have dieted tons because for anybody who spent tons of your time dieting in your lives. Very similar to I did, we become so reliant on something outside folks to inform us what to try to and when to try to it and the way to try to it. We are convinced that there is no way we could know possibly internally the way to do that but remember all of our bodies actually accompany a built-in system. A bit like the system that tells you once you need to go use the toilet. It tells you when you’re hungry and if you’re thinking no way that’s impossible. I promise you, you’re just out of practice with it. You’re just out of practice with touching base together with your hunger signals okay. In order that is one reason that folks tend to overeat. They are not taking note of their internal cues and they are counting on external cues to inform them when to eat or maybe what to eat. The second reason tons of individuals eat an excessive amount of food is because the food they’re eating is extremely inferiority highly processed food right so many calories but no nutritional value. Not only does this throw your hormones out of whack which makes it very difficult to honor your natural hunger cues but it also leaves the body craving more food because your body isn’t only trying to find energy and calories but trying to find nutrients right.
So if you’re wont to eating very inferiority foods or highly processed foods that are nutritionally void. The body will want more. It’s getting to still be trying to find the nutrients that it needs which it wants. That’s why tons of times if someone if you’re somebody who maybe drinks sort of a baked soda or eats tons of nutriment. You’ll still end up feeling hungry albeit you’ve had many calories right. The body doesn’t just want calories and energy. The body wants nutrients, it wants vitamins and minerals and every one of the items that make your body feel good. It makes your body thrive and any of you’ve got been reading long enough then you recognize that i might never encourage anybody to be a die-hard health nut but we do want to be eating those real whole unprocessed foods as on the brink of their wild as possible. Most of the time or at the very least more often than we do not and what i prefer to remind you is counting on where you’re in your journey that would be just 51 of the time okay. Therefore the first reason we’re overeating is because we are taking note of external cues rather than internal cues. The second is that we’re eating too many inferiority highly processed foods. And we’re not getting the nutrients that our body wants or needs. The third reason is that we simply aren’t listening once we are eating. I mean what percentage of you I do know very similar to myself. We all have very full, very busy lives right. And what happens is once we don’t concentrate to the food that we eat. We miss the whole eating experience. We will not forget that food is supposed to be pleasurable.
The pleasure that food provides may be a big piece of the nourishment and therefore the satisfaction puzzle right. It is a big piece of the eating experience. So once we don’t concentrate at dinner time, the brain stays hungry and most of the people interpret this as a willpower issue. But really it is a practice of delight and awareness and presence together with your along with together with your meal and with your food. have you ever noticed that once you sit right down to eat a meal and you actually concentrate and you taste the food and you’re seeing the food and perhaps you’re enjoying the environment you’re in or the people you’re with. How you are feeling so nourished then eating experience versus you knows you’re standing at the counter, you’re feeding the youngsters, you recognize making the dogs dinner. All the various things then you’re finished eating and yeah you’ve had enough calories but you’re with great care unsatisfied. That’s because we aren’t receiving the pleasure that the meal has got to offer. And you cannot underestimate how important that piece is when it involves feeling satisfied together with your along with your together with your food and with your meal. So listening once you eat and allowing yourself to be nourished by the meal to actually receive the pleasure and therefore the enjoyment that meal has got to offer. And therefore the fourth and final reason that folks tend to overeat is that we’ve not learned the way to fully experience and process our emotions. Then what happens is when emotions arise that we do not particularly enjoy and this will be you recognize negative emotions and positive emotions. Sometimes when an emotion feels good but it’s just really big.
We do not really skills to process and manage that feeling and that we quite sidestep our emotions. We sidestep our feelings with food right. So we attempt to avoid or ease or buffer ourselves from that feeling, from that emotion and that we need to take the sting off by having a touch little bit of food. Now listen this makes perfect sense because it works within the moment right. It’s just extremely temporary once we eat something. It makes us feel good but it isn’t a long-term solution because the instant you’re done eating. Whatever emotion presented itself within the first place that you simply were trying to urge faraway from or trying to not affect. It’s still getting to be there expecting you after you eat. But not only are you getting to have the first unprocessed emotion. You were also getting to have the physical discomfort of eating when you are not hungry. And or the emotional discomfort that always comes with you recognize the self-judgment or criticism that we placed on ourselves after we eat once we aren’t hungry or after we eat food that wasn’t on our plan or a part of moving us towards our goals. You recognize just when you’re eating that’s something that you simply don’t need to be eating. And you are not really even enjoying apart from the very fact that it’s distracting you from some sort of emotion. That feeling uncomfortable then the higher you get at learning the way to allow and process your emotions the less you’ll got to address food to assist takes the sting off of them. As you will not get to avoid them or move far away from them within the first place.
So as you’ll see none of those reasons have anything to try to with willpower or discipline or with you being broken or not having the ability to work this out right. All of those reasons or all of those practices are really about creating a more intimate, curious, compassionate, loving relationship with you and the way that relationship actually lays the pathway to reaching your health and weight loss goals right. Therefore the next time you would like to push or bully yourself into some new reducing diet or into an extreme approach to weight loss or healthy eating. I would like you to reflect back on these four principles and see which of them could use a touch bit more of your attention.
