Lea Michele, Jonathan Groff and the band ‘Spring Awakening’ will reunite for the concert

Autumn may be in full swing, but it’s time for “Spring awakening“again.

An original cast with the Tony Award – winning musical, including Lea Michele, Jonathan Groff, Skylar Astin and John Gallagher Jr., reunite 15 years after the show first hit Broadway at a one-night anniversary concert.

The concert, in favor of the Actors Fund, is scheduled for Nov. 15 at New York’s Imperial Theater, where actors and crew will breathe new life into a musical about a group of angry German teenagers navigating the joys and pains of their growing sexuality.

With songs such as “The Bitch of Living” and “My Junk,” the adult musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater won eight Tony Awards in its original rendition. She has since launched a number of productions, including for reimagined the revival of 2015 in which there were many deaf players using ASL.

Michele, who appeared in the production just before her role in “Glee,” is joined by Groff, Astin, Gallagher, Lilli Cooper, Christine Estabrook, Gideon Glick, Brian Charles Johnson, Lauren Pritchard, Stephen Spinella, Phoebe Strole, Jonathan B Wright, Remy Zaken, Gerard Canonico, Jennifer Damiano, Robert Hager and Krysta Rodriguez. It will be directed by Michael Mayer, who led the original production.

Michele is perhaps the most noticeable spice of the upcoming performance. She skipped other recent cast meetings Wednesday the consequences of her alleged past evil behavior on the set of “Glee.”

But she seems perfectly prepared for a special event, writing on Instagram on Monday: “[I’m] SO thrilled to finally announce .. That the original SPRING AWAKENING band will reunite for an amazing one-night concert event that will benefit @theactorsfund. ❤️ ”

“The opportunity to reunite our outstanding cast 15 years after their first Broadway performance of a wonderful performance by Steven Sater, Duncan Sheik and Michael Mayer is a beautiful and exciting idea,” said original producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittleman. Rock in a joint statement. “I think we’re all looking forward to revisiting our younger selves, even if only for one night, and we’re really grateful to Jonathan Groff, Lauren Pritchard and the entire cast for reaching the deadline and making sure it’s all put together.”

The various members of the cast have remained close since the show ended. In particular, Michele and Groff have continued to collaborate over the years and regularly share photos of each other on social media.

Some members of the cast reunited in 2018 help a group of students who survived a shooting at a school in Parkland, Florida to rehearse before staging a musical.
