Millennials are looking for a more traditional path to love with a dating app that only works on Thursdays

The groundbreaking dating app, which is only available one day each week, is becoming increasingly popular among millennials looking to find a partner with the same spontaneity as their parents, its founder said.

“Thursday” is locked for six days a week to encourage users to match, share contact information and arrange a date within 24 hours – instead of engaging in long flirtatious conversations that may never change into meeting.

This is supposed to be the first app of its kind for dating. Links and conversations are automatically deleted at 00:01 on Friday, making users quick to arrange a meeting if they like someone.

Its founders say millennials, tired of being shut up and fed up staring at screens, are desperate communicate personally with potential suitors and enjoy what they see as a more romantic form of networking before the rise of social media.

Thursday was once a traditional dating app called Honeypot. But its founders have found that activity has increased on Thursdays, probably because dating doesn’t want to leave Friday night to a stranger they may hate after a few minutes of conversation. The number of users increased by 80 percent between November and December, compared to 80,000 last month.
